Norman Livingston Kerr

FOUNDER

Norman Livingston Kerr recently served as the Assistant Deputy Mayor for Public Safety for the City of Chicago, where he led the City’s first-ever Office of Violence Reduction. The Mayor’s Public Safety team is charged with implementing a violence reduction strategy that convenes existing efforts, incorporates evidence-based strategies, and promotes collaboration at all levels to create a safer Chicago. He interfaced with elected officials, heads of city departments, and leadership in the nonprofit and corporate arenas on a daily basis at the local and national levels.

During the period from 2012 to 2019, Mr. Kerr was employed at UCAN. In this 153-year-old organization, he started a new department and built a team of over one hundred, serving as the vice president for Violence Intervention & Prevention Services. He led various efforts designed to address the violence crisis plaguing several Chicago neighborhoods.

Mr. Kerr, also worked for four years at a local university as an adjunct faculty, teaching a variety of social work classes that he feels strengthened his ability to more effectively convey information to a range of different audiences. In addition, he has trained law enforcement on procedural justice and improving community relations.

Prior to UCAN, he worked for fourteen years at Cure Violence (Cease Fire), a violence prevention program in which he was instrumental in crafting through his previous experience as an outreach worker supporting high-risk individuals, mentor, and as a grassroots community worker. He served as the Director of CeaseFire and later worked as a CeaseFire International Liaison focused on installing new and innovative approaches to reducing violence in the Caribbean (Jamaica and Trinidad) and also in Ontario, Canada. This work has been highlighted in numerous international news stories and in the documentary “The Interrupters.”

Mr. Kerr received his bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Illinois State University and his master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of Chicago, with a special interest in addressing the impact of trauma on communities of color.

Mr. Kerr migrated with his parents and siblings as a boy from the island of Jamaica and has been dedicated to creating change in Chicago for thirty years.  As a strong proponent of self-care, he is unapologetic about making time to cook/bake, travel, play sports, socialize with friends, and sing in his reggae band.

Tracey G. Lee

Director of Administration

At TCS, Tracey G. Lee serves as our Director of Administration and a seasoned Community Violence Intervention (CVI) Consultant who drives transformative change for our clients. With a diverse skill set encompassing project management, training facilitation, and a former program director for Street Outreach and Victim Advocacy programs in the City of Chicago, Tracey is instrumental in reshaping the trajectories of the cities and organizations we serve.

Her dedication to excellence and passion for community empowerment are evident in every aspect of her work. From developing comprehensive violence reduction programs to coordinating training sessions and research initiatives, Tracey ensures that our efforts are impactful and efficiently managed.

With Tracey’s leadership, TCS is at the forefront of driving positive change in the field of Community Violence Intervention. Her commitment to our mission fuels our collective efforts to address the root causes of violence and create lasting solutions that make a tangible difference in the lives of individuals, families and cities.

Maya Williams

Project Coordinator

Maya Williams is the project coordinator at Trajectory Changing Solutions (TCS), where she supports the development and implementation of impactful programs that address community violence and promote positive youth development. With extensive experience in community relations, program development, and strategic partnerships, Maya collaborates with nonprofits and organizations across the U.S. to strengthen Community Violence Intervention (CVI) efforts.

Her work focuses on fostering community engagement, bridging resource gaps, and driving collaboration between stakeholders to support individuals at the highest risk of violence. Known for her innovative approach to program development, she plays a pivotal role in designing solutions that not only provide youth with access to education, mentorship, and personal growth opportunities but also contribute to reducing violence through strategic, community-centered interventions.

Maya is dedicated to strengthening communities through meaningful partnerships and sustainable programming. She received the Rolling Out Sisters with Superpowers Award for her work in underserved Dallas communities, serves on several community boards, and holds degrees in Marketing (B.A.) and Communications (M.A.).

Adrienne Johnson

Director of Training

Adrienne Johnson is an innovative thought leader with over two decades of experience in program management, community development, and organizational leadership. She excels in developing strategic initiatives, managing stakeholder relationships, and driving measurable results. Her leadership philosophy is rooted in service, mentorship, and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Adrienne’s leadership journey began in retail management, where she spent 15 years honing her skills in team development, decision-making, and navigating complex challenges. She later transitioned into community development, holding key leadership roles at UCAN and the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago, where she led large teams, managed multi-million-dollar grant portfolios, and spearheaded initiatives focused on youth safety, violence prevention, and social impact.

A third-generation North Lawndale resident and Chicago Public Schools graduate, Adrienne holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism from Columbia College and a Master’s Degree in Nonprofit Administration from North Park University, along with multiple certifications in governance, leadership, and conflict management. She is currently pursuing a Doctoral Degree in Strategic Leadership at Regent University. Passionate about mentorship and community engagement, Adrienne continues to advocate for impactful change. Outside of her professional work, she enjoys gardening, practicing Pilates, and caring for her two dogs.
